My souvenir of choice when traveling internationally is checking out Happy Meals from around the world.

Here is a collection of Happy Meals I’ve bought while traveling.

I hope it brings you some happiness to read what children from around the world get to eat at their local McDonald’s restaurant.

McDonald’s Happy Meals from Around the World

The meals are listed in alphabetical order by country. 

Argentina

Austria

Purchased in Vienna (2019). I received a cheeseburger, fries, cucumbers, water, and an otter toy.

The Bahamas

Belgium

Canada

Purchased in Vancouver, Canada (2022). We received nuggets, fries, strawberry yogurt, water, and a Super Pets toy. They also offered a spicy habanero sauce for the nuggets!

Chile

Purchased in Santiago, Chile (2017). We received nuggets, fries, apple sauce, orange juice, and a Nerd toy.

China

Purchased in Beijing (2016). I received a hamburger (super hard and dry), water, fries, and a Mario Brothers toy.

Colombia

Purchased in Bogota. I received a fried chicken thigh, fries, mango drink, peach yogurt, and Eternal’s figurine.

Copenhagen

Purchased in Copenhagen (2019). I received a hamburger (with lettuce!), fries, apple slices, water, and  a toy you can draw on and erase.

Costa Rica

Purchased in San Jose (2018). I received a fried chicken thigh, french fries, apple juice, yogurt, and a plush penguin toy!

Czech Republic

Purchased in Prague (2021). I received chicken nuggets, a Caesar salad, a vanilla milkshake, and a Jurassic World paper toy. How sustainable!

Croatia

Purchased in Zagreb (2022). I received a salad with Caesar dressing, chicken nuggets, coke soda, and a monster truck toy.

Dubai

Purchased by my friend Shri in Dubai (2022). He received a cheeseburger, fries, and apple juice. 

France

Purchased in Paris (2022). I received an egg and cheese McMuffin sandwich, potato wedges, a strawberry sorbet treat, a light strawberry drink, and a deck of cards about famous people in French history. 

Germany

Purchased in Berlin (2019). I received chicken nuggets, side salad, McFreeze treat, water, and a rabbit TY beanie babies toy.

Greece

Purchased in Thira on Santorini island. 

Iceland

There are NO McDONALD’s in Iceland! 

There was once a McDonald’s restaurant in Reykjavik back in 1993, but a meat shortage caused the food chain to import meat from Germany, which came with heavy import taxes. 

This caused menu items to skyrocket to upwards of 20%! The financial crash of 2008, caused McDonald’s to opt out of Iceland altogether in 2009.

One interesting thing you can do in Iceland is to go see the preserved a 12-year-old Big Mac as a historical artifact. It’s located in the Snotra House in Þykkvibær, South Iceland.

The Big Mac was allegedly purchased on October 30, 2009, by a Hjortur Smaraso. This was the day McDonald’s operated in Iceland. He kept the burger and fries in a plastic bag for over three years after hearing rumors of McDonald’s never decaying.

The burger and fries are still showing no signs of decomposition despite being over 15 years past its expiration date.

BUT you should still go see Iceland. If you love the outdoors and nature, Iceland is the perfect place for that.

India

Happy Meal was purchased by my friend Shri S. in Bangalore, India. The meal came with a McAloo sandwich (potato based patty), mixed fruit drink, corn in a cup, and a book.

Ireland

I purchased a meal in Dublin. I only have the toy I received.

Italy

Purchased at the McDonald’s near the Duomo di Milano (2022). I received a cheese and ham toast sandwich (with inverted buns), grapes, carrots, water and pokemon cards.

We also ordered the double BBQ chicken sandwich and fried meatballs (stuffed with olives). 

Japan

Purchased in Tokyo (2017). I received a cheeseburger, orange soda, corn, and a cute pink bunny toy.

Korea

Purchased in Seoul (2016). I received a bulgogi burger, coke, fries, and plastic rabbit toy.

United Kingdom

I purchased a meal in London. I only have the toy I received.

Mexico

I purchased in Mexico City (2022) and received a juice, cheeseburger, yogurt, fries and Sonic toy. The burger and fries were very dry. Everything was packaged in a brown paper Happy Meal bag.

Netherlands

Purchased in Amsterdam (2019). I received a cheeseburger, fries, cherry tomatoes, fruit juice, and a penguin TY beanie baby toy.

Peru

Purchased in Lima (2017). We received a cheeseburger, fries, apple slices, a Hi-C drink, and Secret Life of Animals toy.

Portugal

Purchased in Porto (2021). I received a chicken wrap, soups, coke, and Tom and Jerry toy! They also had the option to choose a children’s book.

Singapore

Purchased in Singapore (2017). I received chicken nuggets, coke, seasoned fries, and an Adventure Time toy!

Spain

Purchased in Barcelona (2019). I received a hamburger, potato wedges, mango slices, water, and a parachute toy.

Switzerland

Purchased in Zurich (2019). I received a Fish-O-Filet, fries, apple puree, water, and orange alien toy.

Thailand

Purchased in Bangkok. I received a Mario Brothers Toadstool toy, coke, fruit, and fried chicken.

Turkey

Purchased in Istanbul (2021). I received chicken nuggets, fries, water, and TWO minion toys!

United States of America (USA)

Purchased at the McDonald’s Global Restaurant in Chicago, Illinois (2022). I received chicken nuggets, fries, water, apple slices, and a Mario Kart toy!

Vietnam

Purchased in Saigon AKA Ho Chi Minh City HCMC (2018). I received a pork burger, fries, water, and Snoopy toy.
