Schimiggy wearing CGTC Joy Leggings

Confused Girl in the City (CGTC) was created by Giovanna Silvestre in 2013 down in Los Angeles, Calif. Giovanna began her journey as a blogger as a way to share her inspiration with others. Giovanna consulted with a healer and received two healing crystals. During a meditation session, she had vision in which she was to create crystal leggings to honor and offer the healing energy of crystals, and thus Confused Girl in the City was born. CGT crystal prints are inspired by the physical and physiological power of healing crystals and what a better way to be reminded of their strength than to wear it. The CGTC motto is a constant reminder to “Find Your True Nature.”

Confused Girl in the City Review: Joy Leggings

I definitely wanted to check out CGTC’s Crystal Collection. The pattern on the leggings are images taken from various stones, each with a unique offering. I decided on the JOY crystal leggings because it was colorful and made me feel energized. I wanted to try them on my body.

Confused Girl in the City Try On

#1 Size: Per their size chart, I ordered a size MEDIUM to review. After consulting with Giovanna, she alos suggested that I go with a medium. I received them and they glowed from the pink bubble packaging. I put them on right away and the leg are fit but the waistband was a bit loose. With the waistband folded down, they fit a little more snug. I could have gone with  a size SMALL. I would suggest sizing down in CGTC crystal leggings.

#2 Style:  I reviewed CGT’s long length leggings. They also make crop leggings, shorts, tees, sweaters and headbands too.

#3 Inseam:  The Joy leggings have a 31″ inseam when measured (size chart says 32″). The leg opening fits over my ankle and ends just below the ball of my foot.

#4 Rise: With the waistband rolled down, the leggings have a medium rise fit.

#5 Waistband: The Joy Leggings are constructed with a tall fold-over waistband. The waistband measures 4.5″ (unfolded) and then 2″ when folded over. The waistband fits comfortably over the hips and does not come with any built in pockets. The waistband is sewn together in the back of the pant.

#6 Fabric

  • Fabric Content: 90% Polyester/10% Lycra. The fabric is printed using water based inks, which are great for the environment!
  • Fabric Feel: The fabric feels smooth and silky. The fabric is thick but does not feel too compressive. The fabric feels similar to Vie Active, Body Angel Activewear and Sankalpa fabric for reference.
  • Fabric Performance: The fabric has 4-way stretch and is abrasion resistant. During wear, the waistband does slide down on my body. I would wear these while participating in low-impact sports.
  • Opacity: Leggings are 100% opaque. They are also white backed and did slightly stretch to white (see close up of the print below).
  • Fabric Features: The leggings do not have any pockets. Legging details and logo are printed on the inner back of the leggings and not visible during wear.

#7 When to Wear: CGTC can be worn anytime. If wearing for performance, make sure to order true to size. I would wear these leggings casually around town or to low-impact activities because the waistband is too loose for me (I am a size 6 in lululemon for reference).

#8 Cost: The Joy Leggings cost $72. Leggings without the fold-over waistband cost $70. Use code SCHIMIGGY for 15% off your orders at Confused Girl in the City.

#9 Gusset: GCTC leggings do not come with a gusset. The crotch area is sewn with overlocked seams.

#10 Stitch Seam: Overlocked seams are used throughout the inseam and waistband of the leggings. Flat fell seams are used at the leg opening only. The overlocked seams compromise the construction of the pant. During wear, I noticed the fabric was stretching to white at the seam. For a leggings this colorful, the stretching to white is very evident. Flat fell seams would have prevented this issue.

#11 UPF Protection: Not disclosed

#12 Made in Los Angeles, USA.

#13 Care Instructions: Machine wash cold with gentle detergent and hang dry

Should I Buy Confused Girl in the City?

I absolutely love the print on the pants. They’re nothing short but magical. I do recommend them but definitely size down per the size chart.

There are some manufacturing/sewing issues that would prevent me from wearing them often. The use of overlocked seams to construct the inseam, rise and gusset, cause the fabric to stretch to white making it look very unflattering (at least on me). This may not be an issue to everyone, but it definitely was one for me. Add some flat fell seams and these leggings would be top notch!
