Wondering what the best things to do at Burning Man are?
Aside from being disconnected from the default world to connect with other Burners, there are many things that we recommend doing to make the best of your burn.
Here is our guide to the best things to do at Burning Man!

Burning Man Bucketlist
#1 Watch a Sunrise AND Sunset…in the Same Day
Make an effort to stay up for an entire day at Burning Man so that you catch both a sunset AND sunrise.
There are things happening 24/7 at Burning Man. With plenty of activities, performances, and events, you can essentially stay up for an entire day.
AND please honor your body. If you feel like you need rest, take it. No one will judge you for taking care of your mind and body.
#2 Take a Flight Above Black Rock City
Did you know you can take a flight to see Black Rock City (BRC) from above? And it’s at no additional cost to you.
We recommend coming super early to sign up. Some people come as early as 5 to 7 AM to sign up. Find an airport wrangler and let them know you want to take a scenic flight. We recommend bringing a book, entertainment, attending their workshops, or connecting with others as you wait for your flight.
Just a fair warning, it may take approximately 3-8 hours to fly depending on your place in the queue.
The airport is located at the end of 5 street.
We wrote up a guide on Instagram on how you can get a bird’s eye view of Black Rock City while you’re at the festival.

#3 Get Yer Passport Stamps!
Collect 50 passport stamps (from various participating camps) and get a prize! It’s also super fun to visit different camps to learn what they’re all about and meet new people!
The prize in 2024 was a passport cover. They ran out of prizes by Thursday, so it’s best to get all your stamps earlier in the week.
#4 Visit Center Camp
Center Camp was created for EVERYONE! Come and spend some time exploring all the amenities made for Burning Man attendees. It’s akin to their City Center and located directly south of the Man.
#5 Go on an Art Car Ride
Art cars or mutant vehicles are super fun to ride. While many of them require you to be friends or family of a camp member, you can politely ask for a ride and who knows, you just might just have a one of a kind experience on an art car.
You will need to be comfortable with leaving your bike or other mode of transportation on the Playa while you ride an art car.
#6 Explore the Trash Fence in the Deep Playa
Go check out the trash fence. It’s a fence that was created to catch all the MOOP (matter out of place) discarded by attendees.
The Trash Fence also has a midnight movie theater and is located in the Deep Playa.
#7 Orgy Dome with Your WILLING Partner!
Visit the handful of orgy tents at Burning Man with your willing partner. Consent is key!
You will need a partner to go in and ID is required (no paper IDs are allowed).
#8 Check Out A Sauna
There are plenty of saunas at Burning Man. Most run late at night when it’s cold.
Download the Dust App and search for a “sauna” to find the camps.
#9 Eat and Drink Your Way Through the Camps
There are camps offering food and drink throughout the day. Challenge yourself to go out and have all your meals at participating camps while meeting people.
You’ll need to bring your personal cups, plates, and utensils to eat and drink from.
My next Burning Man goal is to visit EVERY CAMP offering food and beverage.

#10 See ALL the Burning Man Art
There is a ton of art at Burning Man each year. Artists are invited from around the world to display their artwork on the Playa and around Black Rock City.
Here is a list of the 2024 participating artwork.
If your goal is to check out all the Burning Man artwork, we recommend planning your bike routes each day to see all the artwork. Try viewing the artwork located in certain sections of the Playa each day.
We start with the furthest sections first and slowly make our way towards the center of BRC.
#11 Lose Your Phone and Find It Again at Burning Man
I lost my phone while I was biking on the Playa. Luckily, it was turned into lost and found.
I retrieved my phone by going to lost and found and finding my phone on their computer system. They have a drop box for after-hour drops offs.
And for those who aren’t able to claim their items during the festival, you have until October 31st to claim your items. Follow this site to learn more.
#12 See the Man Burn
Watch the Man Burn on Saturday at 9 PM. The event starts with a fire-dancing procession, fireworks, and the man burning.
Afterward, head over to see the ember coals and remnants of the iconic structure.

#13 See the Temple Burn
On Sunday, stay to watch the temple burn at 8 PM.
The Temple design changes each year and is a place of worship and spiritual release. If you have something you’ve been wanting to let go of or want to honor someone, bring photos, and mementos or leave a message signifying that you’re ready to move on.
#14 Participate in the Burning Man 50k Ultramarathon
I’m not a runner nor will I ever be.
But if you are, you should check out the Burning Man 50k ultramarathon! You can register here.
#15 See Your Friends Get Married at Burning Man!
Witnessing the wedding of your beloved friends is an amazing experience at Burning Man.
Our friends got married at Opulent Temple camp in their Opulent Chill space just before sunset. We then rode off to watch Rufus du Sol’s sunset set.
#16 Be Entirely Disconnected for the Week
Stow away your mobile phones, cameras, and laptops and be present in the moment while you experience this temporary city.
I admit that I will pull my phone out to take photos and capture my experience, becuase that is what I do as a blogger. I document.
But one of these days I will be fully disconnected to challenge myself and explore the depths of true disconnection and immediacy.
